Functioning Surrender, Process of Forgiveness

Yield yourselves to the Lord 2 Chronicles 30:8
The Lord God pardon all who set their hearts to seek God… even though not in accordance with the sanctuary’s rules of cleanness – 2 Chronicles 30:19
surrender
I remain convinced that surrender is truly the key but sometimes the concept carries with it unhelpful tones of self-abasement, humiliation and capitulation.
Maybe “yielding” carries a stronger, healthier tone as it suggests that we accept the call to “surrender” from a position of strong independence and sense of self-worth?
The partner who demands surrender is causing damage to the other and to the relationship; the one who is surprised, delighted, grateful, cherishing the offered gift of surrender brings health and functionality to the other and to the relationship. And this “surrender” need not only be in the big stuff of life but also in the daily, transient and easily overlooked.
Forgiving, being forgiven, is a process. The process must find its own course and not be forced into the path set by another.
