“For I am persuaded, O Lord, that your love is established for ever” Psalm 89:2

The firmness of resolve, the steadiness of commitment, the constancy of promise is what we long for in our relationships. If we are fortunate we experience such immovable purpose in several close friendships but this is a birthright to expect, a payment to be made in the closest of relationships… between two people.

This may sound far from romantic, giddy, whirlwind love but without constancy as a foundation, a protection, a hope all the poetic aspirations will dissolve in the prosaic busyness of living.

And… we will not always get it right; God does… try it. As both example and gift, try it.
